Challenge Your Sibling With These 5 Online Games

Brothers and sisters can be your best friends, but sometimes they can be a pain in the neck. The older ones sometimes want to boss you around while the younger ones often pester you about silly things. Now is the time to restore some order to the house and show your siblings who’s boss with a game challenge.

Create some healthy sibling rivalry and challenge your sibling or a close friend to some of these cool online games at FreeKI Games.

dueling-diego

Dueling Diego

In this game, you take on the role of the dashing Diego. Enemies come at you from the side of the screen as you use your sword to take them down. Each defeated enemy earns points as you progress to your main goal: rescuing Francesca. You have to be quick, but with some practice, the toughest baddies will fall. What’s even better is that when you get a high score in Dueling Diego, you can earn cool in-game items for Pirate101. See if you can earn a higher score than your brother or sister!

The Wordies

Show off your spelling and vocabulary skills with The Wordies. Using different colored blocks, your goal is to make as many words as possible. Really good players can use the combo system to crush their opponents. Combos are scored when you use several blocks in your word that all share the same color as the first letter. What makes this game so much fun is that you can use it to compete with your brothers and sisters, or you can work together to make huge words that would make Mom proud.

blinkz

Blinkz!

The most rewarding victories are often those that come in games of pure skill, not just luck. Blinkz! is a puzzler that challenges you and your brother or sister to connect pink blocks by removing obstacles. Early levels of the game involve only a small number of blocks, but as your skills improve you will face significant challenges. You can take turns playing the same level, or compete to see who can go the farthest without failing. Maybe whoever loses has to do the other’s chores for a day?

Ninjas Never Die

This game will test your skills and your patience. Playing the role of a ninja, you must collect coins inside a spinning maze without being eaten or crushed. Each level awards stars based on how quickly you make it to the exit. Though the game looks easy, it takes a lot of planning to pick the right path. Whether you decide to compete with your siblings for the fastest time, challenge them to reach the highest level, or work together to solve the most complex puzzles, you’ll have hours of fun!

grub-guardian

Grub Guardian

In this tower defense game, you must protect your base from skeletons and other tough enemies. Build cool defense towers like dragons to burn enemies or lightning bats to shock your foes. There are a ton of upgrades and tower setups that you can use, so the game is different every time you play. Grub Guardian also links to your Wizard101 account, so you can get experience for your pets pets or win cool Wizard101 game items. Challenge your brother or sister and make the loser treat the winner to ice cream!

These free online games are a blast to play, either by yourself or with your siblings. Head on over to FreeKI Games today and try all of the selections in our huge list of games, including those related to sports, puzzles, education and many more themes.

Congrats again, Two-Faced Anne! Pillow Fight Day Results

Once again Pirate101 players descended into the heat of Skull Island’s Jungle as they quested for a pile of pillows to call their own. As it turns out, it was the perfect day to have another Pillow Fight — April 4th is none other than National Pillow Fight Day! Who knew there was a national day for this crazy pastime?

First things first, if you don’t remember our last pillow fight, take a look back at this link. We had an even more interesting Pillow Fight this time with a very close race between our winner and a new Pillow Fighter on the scene, Silent Cedric Davenport! Cedric didn’t appear in our Top 50 List last Pillow Fight, but this time he made a strong showing with 130 Pillows.  Had this been the same competition as our last, he would have won with that epic number of pillows, but Two-Faced Anne raised her game even more with a total of 141 Pillows!

Congratulations once again to our Pillow Fighting Champion!  When it comes to collecting a mound of pillows, no doubt about it, Two-Faced Anne is one of a kind. Please enjoy your prize of 60,000 Crowns and the two-time bragging rights as being queen of the pillow hill in Pirate101.

Here are a few more interesting stats for you about this pillow fight event.

  • 5,277 Pillows were found in total during this event.
  • The spread was once again very evenly distributed between the four types of pillows with the most common pillow being the Embroidered Regal Pillow (1,374 of the 5,277).
  • The Dark Jungle, Skull Mountain, and Xol Akmul were the top locations to find pillows.

Why Computer Games Might Actually Be Good For Your Kids

Parents, are you sitting down? We have some news that might make you rethink everything you know about gaming. How many hours a week do you spend asking your kids to turn off their computer games? Unfortunately for you and fortunately for your kiddos, we have some research that shows computer games really ain’t that bad.

Of course, the advantages offered by safe online games exist only in moderation. We wouldn’t recommend for your kid to stay online for extended hours playing Wizard games or building imaginary cities, but it turns out playing a moderate amount of computer games a day can actually benefit your child long-term.

Why Play Computer Games?

There are a lot of cool advantages to playing computer games (especially our games). Here are some of the most touted benefits:

  • Kid-safe online games can teach children how to be leaders; in fact, many MMORPG games make players take turns in leadership roles to gain experience. Kids are able to express their competitive urges in a safe environment.
  • Computer games show kids how to be on a team and share responsibilities. While playing computer games with other children, they have to compromise and work together toward a greater goal.
  • Research shows that kids who frequently play action games make decisions up to 25 percent faster, while still being accurate.
  • Problem-solving is easier for gamers because certain games involve planning, negotiating, and working diligently in order to advance to the next level.
  • Computer and video games have been known to promote creativity. Gamers score higher on tests measuring right-brain thinking.
  • Computer games better hand-eye coordination, both while playing and in the real world, thanks to the use of a controller or a mouse.
  • Most importantly, gaming allows your children to improve their social skills in a monitored environment with players from all over the world.

One of the biggest issues parents have with some computer games is violence and how seeing this could potentially make their children act out. According to a study by the University of Gothenburg, some games with violence can actually be helpful for learning cause-and-effect relationships. The fact that these games penalize hotheads while rewarding those who can keep their cool serves as an example of why to avoid bad behavior.

How Much Screen Time is Too Much?

Though several studies have shown the benefits of safe online gaming for kids, these advantages can quickly disappear if children play too much.

The best practice for letting your kids indulge in online gaming is getting involved and being in the know about what your kids are playing and who they are playing with. If a game has content that you are uncomfortable with, say no. A successful relationship with your family and online gaming is one built on communication. These gaming benefits can work for both you and your child.  As a parent, that’s a pretty good arrangement!

3 Ways A Treasure Hunt Game Can Make Math Fun

Arrr ye looking for a way to get your little Pirate to practice his or her math skills, perhaps without even realizing it? Send the lad or lass on a treasure hunt with math integrated into each clue!

Pirate Booty Treasure Hunt

Here’s a game to help your littlest Pirate with his or her counting skills! Hold a treasure hunt with written clues directing your child to various parts of the house, where booty can be counted and the next clue can be found.

A fun first clue could send the player to “the place where art is made,” with the instruction to gather six crayons. Inside the crayon box would be the next clue, pointing to someplace else in the house and telling them how many of the next object (beans from the pantry, pennies from the penny jar, even pebbles from the garden) to collect.

Give your little Pirate a pillowcase in which to collect the goodies and clues so you can make sure he or she has counted everything correctly. Be sure to end the game with a cache of hidden treasure in the form of some sort of booty your little lad or lass will be delighted to keep! Counting will soon become his or her new favorite activity!

Numbered Treasure Hunt
Every Pirate knows that the best treasure hunts begin with a treasure map. This game is perfect for a young Pirate with more advanced math skills. Make a treasure map of the house with each room or area assigned a number. The map should also include the first clue, a math problem that your Pirate has to solve in order to get the number of the first room they need to visit.

Hide the next clue, which contains another math problem, in the area assigned to the numbered answer of the first clue. Your Pirate has to solve the problem, find the next clue, solve the next problem and so on. Set up 10 or 12 clues with math problems throughout the house, with the final clue leading to the booty (which should be well-hidden so it isn’t found by accident!).

Doubloon-Counting Treasure Hunt

An activity perfect for lads and lasses just learning to count money, this variation of the numbered treasure map treasure hunt will require your little Pirate to count coins rather than solve a math equation in order to find the next clue.

Take this into the backyard and draw a treasure map, with each area of the yard labeled with a monetary amount. The first clue will be a handful of coins that your child has to count out. Once he or she has come up with the total, the next step will be to check the map and find out what area of the backyard corresponds to that amount. In each area, hide a cache of coins that your child has to count in order to find out where to go next, until he or she finds the prize at the end of the hunt! This game will not only expand your child’s math skills, but will also help to reinforce the monetary amount of each type of coin in a fun and unique way!

Yo-ho-ho! Practicing math skills doesn’t have to be boring for your lads or lassies. Every Pirate loves a treasure hunt, and with the promise of booty at the end of their search, most scallywags will tackle these math problems with gusto!
