macOS Update Warning – Your Access to Wizard101 and Pirate101

macOS Wizards and Pirates,

Apple released the new macOS Catalina on October 7, 2019. If you upgrade right away to Catalina, you will not be able to play Wizard101 or Pirate101. To ensure your game access is not interrupted, please wait to install Catalina until we announce full support for the new OS.

The previous version of macOS is ‘Mojave’ that runs on a 32-bit platform. ‘Catalina’ is the new macOS that requires applications to support 64-bit processing. Currently, Wizard101 and Pirate101 are 32-bit applications.

That means that Wizard101 and Pirate101 will not run on your Mac if you upgrade to Catalina. The good news is that we’re working on making both games Catalina compatible.

We will notify you as soon as support for Catalina becomes available. It may be some time yet. Thank you for your patience as we work on this updated functionality.

12/18/2019 Update: We are still working with our partners to ensure complete 64-bit macOS Catalina support is implemented as quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued patience!

About time you made it 64-bit. My Windows 10 has been 64-bit since it was Windows 7

    • Jeffrey / Oct 8 2019 10:14 am

The Windows version of the game always had 32 and 64 bit support, it’s just MacOS X was 32 bit for the longest time.

This shouldn’t have been a surprise. Did Apple do this without any warning? Usually apple is friendlier with its developers than to drop a change like this on them without any notice. I certainly hope it doesn’t take you too long to make the upgrade.

Dont bring it to linux to many hackers trying to destroy the game.

    How much longer pwz?

    • KingsIsle Community / Oct 15 2019 10:06 am

It may be some time yet, we are waiting for our software partners to update to 64-bit.

  11. Firstkind / Oct 12 2019 6:15 pm

the thing is, wizard101 is a game for anyone, it does not need the extra processing power for 64 bits, and some people play that still use a 32 bit operating system, as you can have windows 10 64, some could have windows 7 32 bit

  12. tiereny / Oct 12 2019 7:58 pm

    Thank You!!

  13. Anonymous / Oct 13 2019 9:49 pm

any update on when this will be done?

    • KingsIsle Community / Oct 15 2019 10:06 am

We are having to wait for other external software to support 64-bit. Many game companies are in this same situation.

Yes more Death spells sounds nice, since they took anyway the most important thing that makes death untouchable (bad juju). I wanna see Duncan SoulBreakers storyline he’s always on top of the game yet never heard him and his house are Extremely interesting. i alwasy know he’s A GREEK MYTHOLOGIE HEAD! But behind all the madness he’s a nice fella.

instead of waiting for other 32 bit players to update to 64 bit, why dont you just make 2 different download versions of the game. the 32 bit version and 64 bit version. so it could save time?
i just hope it doesnt take too long :/

Has the game been updated to 64-bit for MacOS yet? I checked the Ravenwood News for the warning message and I see that its no longer up. If it is up to 64-bit it would be nice for you to put another message on the Ravenwood News saying that its been updated.

No, not yet. It may be a few weeks yet.

not trying to be rude, just helpful… 1-off Windows is hardly the best OS, and i say this as a windows 10 user. 2-this post is about the issues with Mac users and their ability to play the game, all other issues and requests would be more appropriate if addressed to Wizard101/KI directly. 3-Thank you KI for your hard work and dedicated team of developers. This game is absolutely amazing, and I know your whole team is working hard to get it back online for updated Mac users.

When will it be released? Any date? I dd not see this post unfortunately before downloading Catalina. I hope to play again soon.

    • KingsIsle Community / Oct 30 2019 9:21 am

Hi Austin! We don’t have a date yet from our partners. As soon as that occurs, we’ll be sure to blast it out on all our channels. Thanks for your patience during this time!

  21. Kinsley Kendrick / Nov 2 2019 3:48 pm

It won’t take months will it? Just weeks?

  22. karla / Nov 24 2019 10:46 pm

I hope the update will come soon

  23. Anonymous / Dec 6 2019 12:41 pm

  24. KingsIsle Community / Jan 22 2020 9:15 am
