Top Ten Hang Out Spots in Wizard101

Happy Hang Out Day, Wizards! To celebrate this wonderful holiday and how much we all love to kick back and chill with our friends in the Spiral, we made a list of our 10 favorite hang out spots in Wizard101!

#1: The Commons – This is definitely the number one place to park your mount and shoot the breeze.  You have to admit it: The Wizard City Commons is the perfect spot to hang out in Wizard101! Now that fishing is all the craze, there’s even something cool to do while you chill. Gotta catch ‘em all.

#2: Gamma’s Room – There’s not much to do in Gamma’s Room but sit and hang out with everyone’s favorite Strigiforme (that’s a fancy way to say owl–see all the cool things you can learn when you hang out?) and check out the glowing lights of the Spiral.  It’s a small space with a lot of personality – great for small gatherings.

#3: The Bazaar – This is the Wall Street of Wizard101. After you’re done hanging out with Elik, sniping reagents, and doing your wizzy biz, there’s plenty of people in the same location to chat with.

#4: Dr. Katzenstein’s Dance Floor – This one is kind of an exclusive spot in Marleybone that’s going to be limited to four people, but once you pull that final lever in Dr. Katzenstein’s lab and electrify the floor . . . it’s time for the whole group to start busting a move on the dance floor!

#5: Castle Tours top 10 – The top houses on the housing tours are very inviting and show off the skills of the very best decorators . . . or at least those that have a welcoming gauntlet dungeon nearby for you to use.

#6: Pet Pavillion – You’ll be sure to see a bunch of wizards gathering here, and they’ll mostly be bunched up around their favorite mini-game.  There’s always time to sit and chat between working on your new favorite “pet project” in the Pet Pavilion.

#7: Class Towers – This choice is a bit old school, but who remembers the days of “Party in the Ice Tower”? We do!  The class tower parties in Wizard101 are legendary.

#8: Olde Town Team Up Kiosk – The Team-up Kiosk is a bit of a newer feature, but if you’re a social butterfly, you know you can always meet new people through the kiosk. Helpful and social: you’re awesome Kiosk vultures!

#9: Daily Assignment spot for the day – This one’s brand new, but it’s also been a great way to see other wizards.  If you’re doing your daily assignments, you’re sure to run into someone else looking for the same thing you are.  Why not stay and hang out for a while after you complete your assignment? You may just end up meeting someone new.

#10: Your Favorite Wizard101 Fan Site – Ok, so this one isn’t in game, but we know you love to talk and hangout outside the game too! Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Wizard101 Central, a favorite blogger site, or our own Message Boards, take a moment to drop by and say hello today.

Didn’t find your favorite hangout spot on our list?  Leave us a comment and let us know how you plan to hang out in Wizard101 today.

Happy 101st Day of the Year

We don’t know a lot of organizations out there in the world that celebrate the 101st day of the year, but who better to celebrate this momentous day than KingsIsle Entertainment?  We are the makers of Wizard101 and Pirate101 after all!  So let’s celebrate this simple day and raise our potion bottles to the games we all love.

Now that we’re all in agreement that we should celebrate, what should we do?  First things first, you should head over to Wizard101.com and redeem the code “101day” for a free 101 Crowns!  That code will also get you a free Ultra dandelion plant for your garden in Wizard101—so head over to your garden and get that planted right away.  Also bundled with our special 101st day of the year code is a free 101 eyepatch for Pirate101.  Now that’ll show your pride to everyone you see in Pirate101 today.

If you’re level 101 or higher in Wizard101, make sure you put on your Excelsior title in game and show off your pride for the day—that’s the special badge you get for obtaining level 101 and today’s a great day to show it off.

101

Ever wondered why there’s a “101” in Wizard101 and Pirate101? Back in the early 1900’s, colleges and universities began using a three-digit course number system and a “101” level course was an introductory course.  In Wizard101 you’re a new student attending Ravenwood, a school of magic, and thus “101” refers to you being a wizard in training.  Wizard101 set the standard and Pirate101 followed suit. Pirates in Pirate101 are pirates in training, and your instructors on Skull Island are ready to help you unlock your potential. With that said, perhaps a good way to celebrate the 101st day of the year is to learn something new!

Head back to this blog post and let us know what you did with your 101 Crowns and tell us how you celebrated today.

Thanks for playing our games!

Spring Brings More Fun to Wizard101

The Spring Update to Wizard101 brought some fun additions to the Spiral. With new ways to earn rewards, challenging bosses, expanded fishing holes and more, there’s a little something for everyone. Let’s dive in and take a deeper look at some of the latest changes to the game!

Skeleton Key Bosses

For those who love a little challenge in Wizard101, three new Skeleton Key bosses are now available to duel. The most difficult is Omen Stribog in Polaris at Rank 17. For a little guidance on what to expect from this battle, check out this guide from Mercenaries for Hire. If you defeat this shadowy boss, you’ll even get a chance to win a permanent mount that looks just like Omen’s wings! So grab a gold skeleton key and 3 friends and head on over to the River of Frozen Tears to check out this cool new boss.

Daily Assignments

Need a little extra gold, arena tickets or even Crowns? Daily Assignments have you covered. Wizards who are level 12 and over can take on these fun little tasks each day by visiting Aegon Statz in Ravenwood. The Gravulum Order needs your help locating Pekuliarities by measuring Pekrons in various areas. Then when you log in, Aegon will give you a new assignment to complete for a different reward every day. The system repeats on a 15 day cycle with progressively better rewards each day. So make sure to not skip your Daily Assignment! But if you miss a day, don’t worry, you can pick up right where you left off next time.

More Spells

If you’ve ever wanted to delve deeper into a secondary school of magic, now is the time. The scholars of the Arcanum can now teach even more spells from their schools of focus to Wizards over level 100. Each spell will cost 1 training point, so study wisely.  A new damage Aura for Life Wizards was also added to the Star School Trainer in Azteca. Theurgists will love this highly requested new spell called Devotion. If you would like to learn some of these spells, but don’t have the training posts, the free training point buyback Member benefit is active in Wizard101 through April 10, 2016.

Zafaria Fishing

For those Wizards who love to cast a line, new ponds are available to explore. Go fishing in the jungle waters of Zafaria and discover new fish. The tricky new sentinels MsPacuman and Pacuman are ready to snatch your line if you don’t banish them away using your Banish Sentinels spell. The new Zebra, Rhino, Lion, Elephant and Hippo Tang fish fit in perfectly with the Zafaria theme. Take a look at these and more in this guide from Stars of the Spiral.

Gear Vault

Good news, fashionistas of the Spiral! You can now store hundreds more gear items using the new Gear Vault in your home. If you are familiar with the Seed Vault, this works just like it. Just place it down in your home, click on it in item placement mode, and move items into the vault. You can pick one up in the Crown Shop for 1995 Crowns or craft your own using the recipe from Toshio in Mooshu. Get some ideas for decorating with your vault in this feature from the April Ravenwood Bulletin.

New Crown Shop Items

Along with all the other exciting goodies with this update, are some new items in the Crown Shop. This includes the new Wild Hare mount and three Khrysalis Furniture Sets.

You can read all about these changes and more in the April 2016 Update Notes for Wizard101. What is your favorite addition from this Spring Update?

To help you get started, the first 2000 to redeem the code “key” will get a random skeleton key in Wizard101! 🙂
