World Turtle Day!
Did you know it’s World Turtle Day? Yes or no, it’s time to bring out your tortoise friends, because we’re celebrating with all things turtle today! This yearly holiday was started in 2000 by the American Tortoise Rescue non-profit organization to increase awareness and respect for turtles and tortoises.
In our games, we’re celebrating with some pretty awesome turtle sales and new turtle mounts… but on the KingsIsle blog we thought today would be a great day to learn some cool facts about turtles and tortoises! Did you know…
- Turtles are one of the earth’s oldest animals and have been around for more than 200 million years!
- A turtle’s shell is actually made up of 60 different bones connected together
- You can find a turtle on every continent except Antarctica
- Turtles can live to be over one hundred years old
- An Indian Ocean Giant Tortoise was documented to live to approximately 202 years old!
- Leatherback Sea Turtles are the largest turtle and can weigh over 2000 pounds
- Many turtle species are endangered and need our protection
- Turtles are reptiles and cold blooded
- Turtles have good eyesight and an excellent sense of smell

My favorite turtle is from a Disney Movie call Finding Nemo. His name is Crush and he is so totally awesome.
i used to have a turtle called speedy he was a red eared turtle its the first picture of a turtle on the top of the blog
Me and my Family have found around three turtles and released them into our pond. Our, last turtle, Miso, (Named after Miso Soup) used to come out and eat the fish food along with our Koi. He was really fun to have around. I enjoy looking at turtles and learning about them.

I like Crush to! I also like Leather Back Sea Turtles! They are cool because their different from other turtles and are very pretty! They have a nice black back and I think they have white specks on their shell. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

My favorite turtle is the one my brother had when we were little. Its name was Rocky. He found it in the creek that goes through the park that is behind the house we grew up. It was so tiny. But it grew to be about the size of my hand.
I used to volunteer at an animal rescue sanctuary in Florida and we had a few turtles there. I love all animals. I think they’re amazing
I like the fact that you try to keep your members interested in the world around them. What I really like is when you do the charity mounts and stuffs because then we get to give back to the world. 🙂
My favorite sea turtle is one that used to live at Easter island they are now extinct but they grow to be very big.

I like Marazume from Pirate101. For those of you that don’t know, Marazume is the tortoise in Mooshu. Also, Chelonians (turtles, tortoises, and terrapins) are my favorite animals!
Yeah. I like the Wizard 101 turtles. But I like the Hawk rider’s mount more. But I want to get an owl but I don’t know how and where. I only get him for 1 day :C

My favorite turtle can be found at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Her story is really unique and inspiring to all who hear it. If you get a chance to visit the National Aquarium, ask about the cute three-finned turtle.
