Fishing Comes to Wizard101!
Grab your fishing pole Wizards, it’s time to hit the open water and find your prize. We’ve wanted to include fishing in Wizard101 since before its launch almost six years ago, and now it’s finally here!
What makes fishing different in the Spiral? Magic of course! Wizards cast a magical lure into open waters to create a truly unique fish. Don’t expect any boring ol’ Salmon or Marlin in the Spiral… instead we have rare species like the Deathacuda and the (potentially tasty) Fish Sandwich. If you love hearing about the new and exciting kinds of fish you can catch, make sure to check out the Fishapedia created by Mercenaries for Hire.

Not a huge fan of fish? Well, that’s outrig-ragious (outrig… outriggers… get it?). That’s okay, even if fish alone aren’t your thing fishing can add great value to your Wizard. Sometimes instead of a fish, your Wizard can catch an elusive treasure chest. These chests are filled with cool items ranging from gold to Crowns items!
In the real world, one of the largest fish ever caught weighed in at nearly 1500 pounds! We’re not sure there are fish that big in Wizard101, but they definitely are going to be a lot more magical! What’s better is that you can show off your best fish in new fishtanks that will look awesome in your house. Look at this amazing “wall of fishtanks” that Paige Moonshade has created:

I love fishing! I think it’s a great idea! But, the fact that you need CROWNS to buy tanks to show off your fish is unfair. Some people don’t have that kind of money to spend. I think selling packs for a reasonable amount of gold is fair. Yes I understand that you need to make money, but I’d love to be able to show off my fish, but I just can’t because it cost crowns. Other than that, I love everything about fishing.

Don’t like the fact you have to spend energy to fish since I have plants to care for and pets to train, but it is a good way to get gold and it is good for when your bored.
i know right its like we have to chose witch to do first and i don’t like that so can we have two sepperet ones one for fishing and one for grarding and both for pets please?
I was excited to see this new feature – I presume it was available in the Test Realm but I didn’t see it… or was it closed testing?
Anyway, I’m just downloading the update, so for now my comment is a question for KI staffers. Did you delay introducing fishing because it was in Toontown and now it has been closed for some time you’ve decided to go ahead?
I really love the fishing stuff that you added I thought it was awesome! I was saving up for a permanent mount and I though it was going to take forever but when the fishing came out when you sell your fish there a lot of money I like that! now I can almost get the mount I wanted! just something I would like to add if when you catch a fish could it use a little less energy? I thought 3 was sort of a lot… but anyways I love wizard101!
i totally agree with shelby there is a pond at the bottom of the wooden cottage and there should be fish there

I had a lot of fun fishing, but, as the mana interferes with gardening and pet training, I may reserve fishing to just one of my wizards. I know crowns can be a problem for many folks, I have taken to playing the Wizard101 trivia games to collect enough crowns to purchase items like the aquariums. I’ve totally enjoyed playing them and have told multiple friends all about them, some of them have tried them and some don’t care to. It’s good to see KI is trying to give us more choices of how and what to play, especially since several of us have completed all the worlds available at this time.
Its the best update there is. Love fishing too and I fish in real life also. But the tanks cost crowns and that’s not fair. And pretty much everything costs crowns also. And the only way to get them without spending real money on them, is to beat the trivia. Which I find it hard to beat it, wish there was a better way to get them without doing that and spending real money on it.

The Pelican who introduces us to fishing says that other wizards do not affect our fish. Are you sure it is not you, scaring your own fish?
I find that it is sometimes hard to see with my dragon pet flapping his wings, and randomly moving from side to side. Perhaps it might be better if our pets went invisible while fishing; or perhaps, just like when we are fighting they can help out their masters? An idea anyways. I still think the energy needs a much larger boost…it makes it rough for those who do plants, pets and now want to fish. I might also add that the random turn generator that happens sometimes while your in game (not sure why you have that in there…just know that when running on rare occasion I will get turned slightly left or right a bit, and have to correct for it). At any rate, that random turn generator hit me in the middle of fishing, and I couldn’t see the action…no idea when to hit the space bar (because I couldn’t even see the fish anymore once it turned me). Might want to shut that off while people are fishing too. So far it has only happened to me once…but I was not happy to have to just waste the energy and let one get away because I couldn’t see what was going on.
I don’t think that fishing actually costs any energy until you press the space bar to (hopefully) make your catch. You can recast as often as you like without it costing anything… so if the ‘random turn’ thing hits you (not really sure what that is) then just recast your spell and you can face it again.
You could also put your pet in your backpack whilst fishing and re-equip when you are done.

I love the fact that fishing is here. I was loving it in the test realm. I would have to agree with another persons comment, about the fish tanks. I don’t have that kind of money to buy the packs with crowns, gold would be alot better for the people who can’t afford to buy things with crowns.
You can craft some in WC or gh, but it would be better if you could buy it with gold

Guys I really like this in w101 but will we get it in pirate? (I only have a wizard so i don’t care i was just asking)
I love fishing! in game and in real life!! use the right bait and wait till the bobber goes fully under the water and bam! you got a fish! The type of bait you use is useful too! but one thing I don’t like is having to buy crowns just to get a tank to house them, even your most prized. that seems kind of unfair. That’s about my only complaint about it other then that I love what they did for it! :]
Maybe make it so you can see what type of fish it is by showing just the top view? or maybe the shilluete of the fish to be the colors of the school; myth being yellow and or blue, life being green an or brown, death being black and or grey/white, so on
I love it, but the fish tanks should be purchased with gold! maybe open a fishing shop in the shopping district in one of the empty houses? 🙂

I like the fishing idea. There are a few changes i would make. First one is to put a fishing pole in our hands and second is, Why do we need to keep putting new lure on each time. leave the same lure until we decide to try another then let us change lures. Still seems to be too many interruptions while fishing which wastes time.

I think fishing is awesome! BUT……… I think Kingsisle should decrease the chances of fish escaping! After seemingly endless balance-cudas being caught, i lost so much energy I couldn’t fish anymore! For a while at least. I understand that fishing takes patience and what-not, but I just don’t like the slim chances of actually getting the fish you want. And then there’s the chests…. So much energy was once again consumed by catching low level chests that barely contained anything useful whatsoever. And the logic behind the chests bothers me….It has the shadow of a fish, but out comes a chest when you finally catch the “fish”. Something that could be done is that you have chances of catching chests alongside the fish, not just individually. And one last thing. There should be affordable fish tanks, ones that can be purchased with less than 100 crowns, or ones that can be purchased for lots of gold.
I really hope someone from kingsisle acknowledges my pleads, as they are really stressing my fishing career in the game out. it just seems so awesome to be able to fish and so forth, but if my ideas were took into place, it would be even more awesome. I am happy to say that this “Fishing” patch was a huge success for me. I admit though, the energy cast cost is well balanced but after a while when you get too many “Your fish ran away!” and losing 1 or 2 energy at a time (based on lure level), back to back, is not fun. I hope you might fix that.
Other than that I look forward to future updates with new fishes, new fish tanks, and perhaps a fishing contest?

I think it’s a great Idea, it’s just that Fishing is going to change the game for ever. More connections are going to be interrupted because people are doing it 24-seven. You guy’s did a great job in the test realm,but while I was talking to my friend I experienced all my messages when blank all chats went blank for a split second.

the fishing is fun but I think you should create a rare fish to be as a pet!
There are a few things I disagree with, but otherwise it’s a really cool update! People who don’t have crowns can’t display their fish, which stinks! And I think houses should be able to be fished in, especially mine, the winter wind castle, because the secret cave has a teleporter to a fishing dock. And I cannot catch a armor head! GOSH! It’s so hard for me! Think about my ideas Kingsisle!

I love the fishing aspect sooo much! However, I think you should switch around the Fire and Balance colors of the fish and lures. The Balance one looks Red and Fire. The Fires one look Citrine and Balance.

Oh my gosh, this is one of the best things in the game by far! However, tanks should be available in gold as well.
ok (fishing good) least something to do so, not bored all the time! I like dragon eel fish (not fan of fire school because ice school because fire mean to ice >_< but DO need fix the fish because pond get to Empty mostly every realms (have trouble finding fish sandwich because empty pond!

It would be cool to have a pond that could be installed at your house so you could fish at your house. Also, it would be cool to hang the whoppers as mounted trophies in the house.
Also, it would be cool to feed the fish to certain pets. Also, some of these fish would be cool to have AS pets! We all love fishing in our family.
I think you should be able to feed the fish you catch to your pet.
Hi i am a Wizard101 non-member player. I love the fishing update but there is one thing i dont like. We also have to fish in cyclops lane. There are not many quests for Wizard101 non-members and i wish they made some quest for non-members. But other than that its a great update.
Fishing is cool and all but there’s one downside to it that bothers me: crowded realms. Even if I go to the less populated realms labeled as ‘perfect’ there’s always a crowd of people gathered at the waters. I can no longer enjoy the peace and quiet..
