Fishing Comes to Wizard101!
Grab your fishing pole Wizards, it’s time to hit the open water and find your prize. We’ve wanted to include fishing in Wizard101 since before its launch almost six years ago, and now it’s finally here!
What makes fishing different in the Spiral? Magic of course! Wizards cast a magical lure into open waters to create a truly unique fish. Don’t expect any boring ol’ Salmon or Marlin in the Spiral… instead we have rare species like the Deathacuda and the (potentially tasty) Fish Sandwich. If you love hearing about the new and exciting kinds of fish you can catch, make sure to check out the Fishapedia created by Mercenaries for Hire.
These dedicated Wizards have taken the time to catch, identify, and record each type of fish in the Spiral! Have you caught them all yet?

Not a huge fan of fish? Well, that’s outrig-ragious (outrig… outriggers… get it?). That’s okay, even if fish alone aren’t your thing fishing can add great value to your Wizard. Sometimes instead of a fish, your Wizard can catch an elusive treasure chest. These chests are filled with cool items ranging from gold to Crowns items!
In the real world, one of the largest fish ever caught weighed in at nearly 1500 pounds! We’re not sure there are fish that big in Wizard101, but they definitely are going to be a lot more magical! What’s better is that you can show off your best fish in new fishtanks that will look awesome in your house. Look at this amazing “wall of fishtanks” that Paige Moonshade has created:

its nice and all but you need to put the fishes in order
I got the owl eyed pike in my first two tries and I didn’t even have the quest for it xD
smae here but on the thrid try and i,m not a good speller
it sounds great i haven’t tried it yet but I’m going right now can’t what to see what i can find

Where can we find a list of what school the requested fish are? trying different lures to catch a fish is a waste of time and energy! Plus 3 for each catch is a waste of energy as the majority of the catches are not what we need. The non-quest catch should be -1 and there should not be any penalty for a fish getting away! Too much wasted energy on fishing that takes away from pets and gardening which are useful to the game. Fishing doesn’t help the game playing, it’s a new game shoved into wizard101. Let’s make it useful for the wizard and for questing. It’s fun, but I can see it getting old really quick if it has no purpose for this game.

Fishing, really?! If you were going to add something new, it should have been something that actually has any thing to do with magic.
Ok a few issues, 1, when you are trying to catch a fish sometimes your map will pop up. 2, you should make it easier to fish for new fishers. 3, put on the map where you can find certain fish so you can do your fishing quest. 4, make it simpler to catch the fishes.

i love the new update but, they should tell us what school fish it is i mean i have been trying to catch a catfish for to days now and still don’t know what school fish it is 😦 so would you plz fix that that would be awesome
Theres a spell that tell you the schools of the fish, did read the tuturial, DOES ANYONE READ IT!!!
look at the color of the splash and that will tell you the school

i love the fishing i caught loads of fish and sold them and i got nearly 10,000 gold
it kind of bugs me cause of how it cost stuff
it should not take so much energy, trying to take care of plants and fish is impossible, some fish should recharge your energy. and fishing is alright

I think it’s fantastic! That’s what I love about Wizard101 – not just battles, but more and more to do – gardening, crafting, now fishing! I noticed that in Grizzleheim you can purchase recipes to CRAFT the aquariums, so, no – you do not have to have crowns to have them. THANK YOU KI, for doing that.
I do wish it had used Mana instead of Energy since I love to garden as well, but I’ll figure out something.
I just hope the furor dies down a bit – my game was terribly glitchy yesterday. I guess it couldn’t handle all the folks on the game! Much better this morning, but it’s very early in the day. Guess I know when I’ll be fishing.
As an adult player – I truly appreciate the variety of tasks and the storylines. Keep up the great work KI!

to fish it shouldn’t cost energy it should cost mana
Well… The fishing is okay for everyone as i see. But, I don’t like it in my opinion it kind of makes my computer laggy.
I love fishing a ton.. I can get to the point where I press “Invoke”, but after that I fail. I know I have to press space bar when the lure goes underwater, but I never see it do so. Am I doing something wrong, or just being blind?

What is happening is that the fish is only biting at it. of you can still see the lure, do not press invoke. wait until the lure is completely out of sight.
Love the fishing idea in general. For those concerned with buying fish tanks with crowns you can craft them. I was disappointed with only 3 quests. I guess we just go where we can find fish ponds and fish only to level up. Also I cant catch fish without buying the major potion, and even then I fished for 3 hours for one cuddlefish. I spent a lot of time and money and nothing to show for it. I was even going to craft a new house to keep my tanks in, but now with one day spent trying to get one fish, back to gardening and leave the fishing for my other wizard friends.
It’d be nice if we were able to go to any library and find fishing reference books to at least look up the school of the quest fish! BTW, everyone, aquarium tanks do NOT have to be bought with crowns. I got one yesterday by simply catching a treasure chest. Thanks KI, I love fishing!
I think if you make it when we hover over a casting spell it should show where its gonna land, I believe that would help
I love the idea of fishing-I spent most of yesterday doing just that! I think it’s a great idea to let wizards create their own fish tanks from the recipes in gh! It means we don’t all need crowns to show off! I can’t wait to see what other fish become available in the spiral, and what other prizes treasure chests may hold. In ds, it seems like you would have a rather hard time fishing, so my question is…will there be lava fishing?
I think it is really fun! Just too crowded at times, but otherwise I really like fishing. My favorite fish is the cat fish!
its a wow game now, the new fishing is awesome but it would of better if we got one or two tanks of the fish and the rest we bought. so we know how it looks like in our house but everything else is awesome

well i think that you also need to add leveling up a little faster 😀 and also make that when you get a new computer you do not have to start over 😀 cause then i would be about lvl 90
Ok this is my second day trying to get the fish sandwich. Yesterday I spent 190 energy. I bought a refill on my energy. Yesterday, there were 3 myth fish and none were the fish sandwich. Today I’ve also refilled and bought a major energy luck. There was one myth fish and not a fish sandwich! Could you add me some myth if you want me to catch a myth fish? I’m sorry but I’m so hating this! I so wanted to like it! You are taking my money and energy but there is no myth spawning for me!
I’m hoping for a new house geared towards fishing like the big red barn is for plants. I’m thinking a stream you can stock with your caught fish and a secret underground tunnel that allows you to view them aquarium style. What would be just as cool if the house came with a lake a dock and a boat. I’d even be willing to pay a few more crowns for a possible boat upgrade. See you in the spiral 🙂

I just started fishing. When I went to the pond indicated there were no fish. When I went back an hour later there were fish and I hooked the fish but when the fish bubbled to indicate going down I got nothing. I did this several times. You need to make fishing fun for those of us who are not fishing enthusiasts. Since we need to use energy used for gardening and pet training which I love, fishing needs to be fun also.
wish we could share fish with shared bank like reagents for those crafting items that need fish
I enjoy the new fishing. Thanks KingsIsle for always keeping W101 fresh and exciting. That’s what I like about W101, and that’s what sets you apart from all the other MMORPGs out there. I do agree with other players, however, that it would be nice if fishing cost mana instead of energy. Or, cost less energy. It’s tricky enough balancing gardening and pets.

it is great you have made up Kingsisle! But sometimes when i fishing up a tresure chest so it will come to me in 2 or 5 min, so i am standing there like 5 min and the chest will come to me. And i have one more question for you! the packs that cost 750 crowns for aquarium for the fishes, can you make so we on wizard can buy this packs for gold to? Its enoying when low level asking people for crowns when you get allot of gold for selling this fish! Mvh/ angelica jones
I love the fishing!!:) the only problem I have is that we only have so much energy and we do use energy for pet training, and gardening so maybe we should have more energy so we can get more out of those activities. Just a suggestion 🙂
I enjoy the idea of the fishing and being able to place them in fish tanks, but it would be nice to increase the energy which is used for plants/raising pets and now fishing. This is making us choose which area we want to work in and it makes game play frustrating.

I think the fishing update is great, but it’s really hard to stay into it when the energy takes a while to refill. Maybe make the energy refill faster?
