KingsIsle’s New Blog… and a Confession

I’m thrilled to announce the official launch of KingsIsle’s new blog.  We truly have such a great community with phenomenal fan sites, players and (if you will allow me to gush just a little) excellent community managers.  This blog gives us another means to share our passion with you as well as dive into a broader range of topics.

What can you expect of our blog? For one it’s another fun, playful environment that lets a little more of our creativity shine through outside of our games.  Keep an eye out for insights into the gaming industry and perhaps a little guidance to those who aspire to enter it with us.  We also have some wonderful “Guest Bloggers” lined up, and we certainly want to hear from you on topics you would like us to further explore.  Perhaps most importantly, we want to give you a more intimate view of what we do here at KingsIsle and exactly why we are so passionate about what we do.

Okay, you know about the goals of the new blog… so what is my confession?   It is simply this – I love what I do.  No, really! I believe it is one of the things that set us apart as a company, because I’m convinced this feeling runs across every employee here at KingsIsle.

We work hard, but we certainly love gaming!

We work hard, but we certainly love gaming!

Sure, some days and activities are still “work” but never once have I lost my appreciation for how lucky I am to do what I do and to be a part of the KingsIsle community.  Bluntly stated, I am proud of what we all do here.   I’m even more proud to be a part of this this great community of Wizards and Pirates and more that you have created with us.

As I sit writing this first blog entry I actually have tears streaming down my face.  Just five minutes before I started writing this post I received a call from the Make-A-Wish foundation.  There is a 10-year old boy whose wish is to come visit our studio because he is such a fan of Pirate101.  How amazing to be a part of something that has such a positive impact.   Please accept my sincere gratitude for partnering with us to make something truly great.  Thank you for making our jobs so rewarding!

I just really love the Wizard101 game. I’ve been playing for about 3 years now and it just keeps getting better and better.

    • Anonymous / Sep 14 2014 7:27 am

What if there was a ninja101

      • Benjamin William Schweitzer / Sep 15 2014 7:03 pm

Or mechanist 101. Wizard 101 and Pirates 101 have a very steampunk aesthetic to them. So ninja and mechanist centric games would both fit well into the world. And their approaches would both be different Ninjas would most likely have a number of stealth and combat abilities as their core properties because that’s how they’re designed to operate, Mechanists work with machines so they would have a bunch of abilities around building things like robots and weapons and also have abilities that were built around enhancing and repairing machines.

  11. Anonymous / Jun 19 2013 10:20 pm

what about a game called castle101

    • Daniel Nightstrider / Jun 23 2013 5:19 pm

I actually had the same idea! you could be one of several schools. It would be more similar to p101 than w101 though. Anyway there would be ranged fighters, thieves, knights(lots of health), plain infantry(Alone they are weak but could be like the privateers of p101), wizards (Kind of like witchdoctors, giant killers… That is my vision anyway 😛 KI can probably do better than that though.

      • mycin dragonhammer / Dec 9 2013 7:12 pm

lol i had the same idea! i am trying to make a game that is a little like that. i am still in elementary school but me and my friends are trying. it would be awesome to work for kingsisle when i’m older

      • Benjamin William Schweitzer / Sep 15 2014 7:43 pm

Ninjas are supposed to be mysterious and silent. The idea of a ninja having Knight or Warrior type build completely defeats the purpose of the archetype. Now having different specializations like speed, Stealth, summoning (because magic and having ninjas summon things is kind of cool), and so on would work as different kinds of schools.

  12. Ted James / Jun 20 2013 1:44 am

aww that is awesome! I’m a fan of both wizard101 and pirate101 in fact I made a account in wizard101 before all this amazing stuff was created (love the new main boss on wizard101 by the way lol) and to be honest I never used to be big gamer until Dad came home with a podracer game (I have a feeling a spelled that wrong xD) after playing that I started playing other games and my real life friend became friendly rivals and we would compete against each other on any game we could get our hands on lol, Halo was one of them several months went by and Josh joined the Navy and I have never heard from him anymore so I kinda lost my friendly game rival but as you can tell I’m still playing games and trying to make myself even better than I am now for if or when I see Josh again and also the other reason why I’m playing games it gives me something to do 😀 and Fred this Blog you made is awesome 😀

    • Anonymous / Jun 22 2013 2:39 pm

First of all, I hope you see your friend again, and I appreciate all that he has done for his country. Also, I agree, Halo is epic.

  13. Biggest Fan / Jun 20 2013 4:23 am

    Wow,
I love playing but I never thought there would be a blog. So far my favrorite website is “Wizard 101.”
I would like blogs send to my phone though! Maybe you can make a new game that we could be part of a “medevil life.”
    Great work. Keep it up.

    • Anonymous / Jun 22 2013 2:34 pm

I agree. A “Knight101” that takes you through the steps of Knighthood would be awesome. you could build your own castles and make armies out of comrades such as in Pirate101, and attack your friends’ fortresses. Just throwing out ideas.

    • peyton / Jun 25 2013 3:35 am

      i agree like kingdom101

  14. Sharif Lewis / Jun 20 2013 10:13 pm

I’ve cried a time or two, myself over how much I like this game! Thanks for the blog! Thanks for sharing! Thanks for being open and approachable! Thanks for being a good game company that cares about children! Thank you! Seriously, thank you!

  17. Murping man / Jun 21 2013 9:49 pm

I think the next game should be Knights 101 the characters should be the Rouge, Dragon Tamer, Archer, Mage, Barbarian, and a Knight. And the first world could be Marylebone because some of the places in Marylebone look like dungeons.

    • peyton / Jun 25 2013 3:36 am

wow! I can not belive that the hedmaster of wizerd101 is playing table teinis!

  22. BloodyBriannaWindlass / Jun 24 2013 11:46 am

What would be cool if you made Wizard101 and Pirate101 collide and have it so the wizard world would effect the pirate world and vise versa and make it so you can pick what account you can be on and go into the worlds where you can see the wizards and pirates interact i wonder how that would be really i wonder if the WitchDoctor would teach the wizards something and the same thing gose for the pirates if they could teach the wizards something. But that seem a bit much for KI at the moment…

  23. Anonymous / Jun 24 2013 12:43 pm

I like pirate101 but it is not letting me play my character can someone fix that please

  24. THEBOOKWORM876 / Jun 24 2013 2:40 pm

  25. I gotta say, I played Wizard101 and at first I just played it, to be honest, just to do something besides sit around. But after awhile, I was addicted to it! Then Pirate101 came out and I love it too. Pirate101 > Wizard101 > EPIC

I have heard about a new world being added to Wizard 101, but have not seen anything official. Will we be getting an addition soon? If so is there a beta test for it yet?

The 101 series, as I’ve come to call it, is showing itself to be highly diverse. I would like for a Ninja 101 and Mechanist 101 to both eventually become a reality. Something else I would like to see is a game I’ve taken to call “Spiral Adventures” the premise of the game is simple, you use a character from one of your 101 accounts and run around with your friends who are doing the same. Let’s say you really like one of your Pirates, but a friend yours really likes their Wizard and you both wondered what would happen if you teamed them up. Spiral Adventures is the game that gives that opportunity and more. You could build a team of individuals that each are from different 101 games, the quests and challenges could be designed so that that a character from each of the 101 games is potentially needed. Of course starting the project should happen until after 4 or 5 different 101 games are up and running, for variety. You could also have duels and tournaments that pit each different archetype against each other for whatever reason you want. And since you’re binging a character you’re familiar with from another game instead building a new one when you start the game you can jump into the action that much quicker. Special zones for each of the 101’s trainers could be set up for buying new spells and abilities. There could even be special cards/spells/abilities that are exclusive to Spiral Adventures. What do you all think of this idea/concept?

    • Alexander SpellHammer / Nov 18 2014 11:24 am

The tournament wouldn’t work p101 and w101 have different fighting styles but it would be awesome if that game were real!!!!
